Shri Nikhil Bihari Ghosh, hailing from the town of Bhurkana in West Bengal, has been honored with the prestigious United India National Award 2024 by the Veyil Foundation, a renowned social welfare organization. This recognition serves as a testament to Ghosh's exceptional contributions and dedication towards the betterment of society. His remarkable achievements and selfless efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals, making him a deserving recipient of this esteemed accolade.


Nikhil Bihari Ghosh, born on February 1, 1953, in the rural village of Bhurkana, West Bengal, is a highly accomplished individual who has made significant contributions to the world of music and art. His early life was shaped by the influence of his father, Late Rash Bihari Ghosh, and mother, Late Bholadashi Ghosh, who played pivotal roles in nurturing his talents.

From a young age, Nikhil Bihari Ghosh displayed a deep passion for music, embarking on his musical journey under the guidance of the renowned Indian Classical Music maestro, Late Jagannath Maji. Later, he further honed his skills in Light Music under the mentorship of the eminent musician of Bengal, Late Pintu Bhattacharya. These experiences laid a strong foundation for his musical prowess.


Since 1975, Shri Ghosh has been a regular artiste, captivating audiences with his mesmerizing performances. He has graced the airwaves of Akash Bani Kolkata (All India Radio), where he currently holds the esteemed position of a "B-HIGH Artist." Throughout his illustrious career spanning over 50 years, he has traveled extensively across India, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of listeners with his soul-stirring music.


Shri Nikhil Bihari Ghosh's dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal is evident in his special interest and research in Ancient Folk Music of the region. His profound connection to the musical traditions of Bengal is beautifully reflected in his work, establishing him as a stalwart in the field.


In 1983, Shri Ghosh's musical genius reached new heights with the release of his first Gramophone Record from Sahana Music. Subsequently, his compositions and performances were captured on cassettes, records, and CDs by various renowned companies, further expanding his reach and influence.


As a lyricist and composer, Shri Nikhil Bihari Ghosh has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Srimati Swapna Chakraborty and Lakshman Das Baul, showcasing his versatility and creativity in the realm of music. His compositions serve as a testament to his profound understanding of the art form and his ability to evoke deep emotions through his melodies and lyrics.
